Lists! Lists!

So we had our third group meeting this week on Monday at 4pm. The agenda of the meeting was to disucss hardware requirements for our project in more detail and be able to come up with a definite list of thing that we need. Also, how to get those things in Tampere/Finland. Going through our previous research and dicussion, we came up with three main or key paths that we can take at the moment. Over the week, we discussed and updated these paths and parts in an shared excel sheet. ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArYvmKiHImoIdGlIMndMZjk3OUZYYWxCc0ZlWURnRFE)

It was then easier to decide which path to take and how to proceed to the second decision: how to get the required hardware parts in Tampere/Finland.

Mikko did an extensive reearch for the Arduina Uno R3 micro-controller and came up with various online options to purchanse them. Chris focused on the Figaro 2620 Sensor and emailed them about obtaining one in Finland.

Hopefully, our list will be ready over the weekend!

The project beginning

The group has met two times till this moment. The first meeting was on Wednesday 29.2 at 10 o´clock. and the next meeting was on 8.3 at 12 o´clock. The both meetings lasted for about two hours. At the fist meeting the team started to worked with the task slides and got organized. We also started to talk about the implementation plan and possibilities and decided to do some home work on the topic.

The goal of the team is to create a system reacting trough air quality sensor to home environment air quality and make survey of the situation with a connected computer software and then have some automatized action taking place according to the air quality, for example opening the window system or starting ventilation process.

 The team is:

Anju Thapa : User interface design and usability testing
Sumita Sharma : Integrating hardware, programming the micro-controller and software development
Christopher Contolini: Software development, data visualizations and building the web interface
Mikko Myllylä : Project management and system integration

At the second meeting the plan was discussed more thoroughly and we got deeper look to the implementation plan and decided to ask the responsible teacher about the existing hardware at the faculty and at the labs and about the possibilities to get some new things.

The following things would be needed: certain things such as a VOC sensor, a Micro-controller and Breadboard/ Wires/ LEDs/ Power Source etc.
